7 ways to fix the computer can not connect to WiFi
Note, this article will illustrate the instructions on Windows 10, if you are using a lower version, you just need to do the same.
1. Check the power supply
Over time, dust that builds up over time can cause power outlets and plugs to mismatch, resulting in the router losing power. At this point, try cleaning the power outlet (be careful when doing this) or powering the router through a different outlet.
In the case of using an ethernet cable to access the network, you should also check the cable to see if the two ends are firmly attached to the router and computer.
2. Reboot the router
First you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) at the phone number printed on the router and ask them to check the Internet connection.
If everything is still working properly, simply reboot the router by pressing the power button (or unplug the router), leave it for about 30 seconds and turn it on again. This will clear the cache and old DNS data on the router, helping to fix connection problems.
3. Forget the WiFi network
To do this, click the Start menu in the lower left corner of the screen and select Settings - Network and Internet - WiFi, then click the name of the network with the error and press Forget.
Finally, users just need to reconnect to WiFi and enter the corresponding password.
4. Run automatic fix tool on Windows 10
To open the automatic fix tool on Windows 10, go to Settings, then navigate to Update & Security - Troubleshoot - Additional troubleshooters - Incoming Connections - Run the troubleshooter, and follow the instructions. when finished.
5. Turn off firewall
It sounds ridiculous, but the default Windows firewall can sometimes prevent your computer from accessing the Internet. Therefore, try disabling the firewall temporarily by going to Settings - Windows Security - Firewall & network protection - Private network, then turn off the Microsoft Defender Firewall option.
When done, try opening your browser and accessing the Internet to see if the problem is fixed.
6. Update the driver
First, right-click the Start menu and select Device manager - Network adapters. Next, users just need to right-click on the corresponding driver and select Update driver.
7. Turn off third-party antivirus software
Third-party anti-virus and malware sometimes also prevent the computer from connecting to the network. Therefore, try to temporarily disable the anti-virus software by right-clicking on the software icon and selecting Disable, then check to see if the problem has been fixed.
If none of the above solutions help, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for help.
