A QQ account provides access to Tencent's QQ messaging service and can be accepted by some Tencent games and other Chinese services. Registration currently starts with a mobile number on Tencent's official QQ form. A QQ account alone does not guarantee access to every Chinese game: publishers may restrict a title by region or require separate real-name and age verification.
Before you register
- Use a mobile number that you own and can keep. Temporary SMS numbers can prevent account recovery and may violate Tencent's rules.
- Open only Tencent's official domains. The registration page should be under
qq.comorzc.qq.comand use HTTPS. - Create a unique password. Do not reuse the password for your email, game accounts, or other social platforms.
- Check the target game's official login page first. It may require WeChat, a publisher-specific account, a supported region, or identity verification instead of QQ.
Register a QQ account on the official website
- Open Tencent's English QQ registration page.
- Choose the correct country or region code for your mobile number. Do not add the country code again inside the number field.
- Enter the requested nickname and a strong password if those fields appear in the current form.
- Select Send verification code. Enter the SMS code only on Tencent's page.
- Read the QQ Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then agree only if you accept them.
- Select Register Now and complete any additional security check.
- Record the numeric QQ number or QQ ID assigned after registration. Store it with your recovery details in a password manager.
Tencent can change the order and wording of these fields. Follow the form that appears on the official page rather than copying a third-party screenshot.
If an international phone number is rejected
QQ registration can apply security and rate controls that vary by number, region, device, and recent attempts. If a legitimate number is rejected:
- Confirm the country code and remove spaces, a leading domestic zero, or other formatting the form does not accept.
- Wait before requesting another code if you made several attempts. Repeated requests can trigger a temporary limit.
- Try the official QQ mobile app downloaded from Tencent or an official app store, if it is offered in your region.
- Use Tencent's own support or feedback link. Do not pay an online seller to create or “verify” an account.
Do not use a VPN, borrowed identity, fake document, rented number, or public SMS service to bypass a regional or real-name requirement. The account may be locked, and any games or purchases linked to it may become inaccessible.
Using the QQ ID with a Chinese game
- Download the game from its official publisher, platform, or app-store page.
- Verify that QQ login is an option for that exact regional version.
- Use the official authorization screen to sign in. Check the service name and requested permissions before approving.
- Complete any lawful age or identity process using your own accurate information. If the process accepts only a mainland Chinese identity document and you do not have one, that version is not available to you.
- Keep purchase receipts and link an available recovery method before spending money.
Some games operate separate servers for mainland China and other regions. Progress, purchases, friends, and characters may not transfer between them.
Secure and maintain the account
- Use QQ only through the official QQ app and website. Tencent's terms prohibit unapproved clients and account transfers.
- Never share the SMS verification code, password, QR login approval, recovery data, or session token.
- Reject unsolicited “free skin,” “account unlock,” and paid verification offers.
- Keep the phone number active and update recovery information when Tencent provides that option.
- Sign in periodically if you still need the account; Tencent's terms allow long-unused accounts to be reclaimed.
- Do not buy, sell, lend, or rent QQ accounts. Tencent states that an account is for its original registrant.
