Google extends the deadline for migrating old Fitbit accounts.
For Fitbit, the major shift Google is making is moving all users to Google accounts.
Google announced its acquisition of Fitbit in 2019, and the deal was completed after a few years. Fitbit is now owned by Google, and it was only a matter of time before Google began consolidating some of its related resources.
For Fitbit, the major transition Google is undertaking is moving all users to Google accounts. Initially, the account migration plan was to be completed by 2025. But the company has set a new deadline: Fitbit users must switch to Google accounts before February 2, 2026. And then there will be further extensions after February 2.
Instead of February 2nd, existing Fitbit users now have until May 19th to switch to the Google operating system. After that date, you will not be able to use Fitbit without a Google account.
Google has also set a new deadline: If you decline to set up a Google account, your old Fitbit data will begin to be deleted starting July 15th. You can request deletion before that deadline or download a copy for your own use, but after that date, further access is not guaranteed.
