Enable PUA Protection in Windows 10 to Prevent the

Enable PUA Protection in Windows 10

To block potentially unwanted apps on Windows 10, just follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Start menu and search for Settings .

Step 2: In Settings , navigate to Update & Security> Windows Security .

Step 3: Find the App & browser control page and open the Reputation-based protection settings.

When you enable this feature, the Windows Security application will immediately block adware, cryptocurrency mining tools and other unwanted nonsense that may come with a free software that you download from Internet.

For Microsoft Edge users, Windows Defender will scan the PUA when they are downloaded in the browser. The PUA protection feature is also integrated in Microsoft Edge Chromium, but you'll have to manually activate the following:

Step 1: Open Settings in Edge and navigate to Privacy and services.

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and activate the option 'Block potentially unwanted applications' .

Microsoft says if you download PUA from another browser, Windows Security can still detect and block it completely.
