By default, Google Chrome requires confirmation when a website automatically downloads files continuously. However, if you want to block this action on all pages or blacklist specific sites, here's how.

Sometimes, when you download a file in a browser, the website will try to download another file right after downloading the first file. Although this may be legal action like on the file conversion site, there are websites that use this feature to install malicious viruses or scripts into download files that users do not know. However, for security reasons, Google Chrome notifies users when a website tries to download multiple files.

How to disable downloading multiple files automatically

Start Chrome, click on the menu icon and then select Settings . Alternatively, you can type chrome: // settings / in the address bar to directly access Chrome settings.

On the Settings tab, scroll down and click Advanced .

Scroll down to Privacy and Security , click on Site Settings .

Scroll down to the settings list until you see the Automatic Downloads option and click on it.

By default, this feature will notify you when a website downloads files consecutively. This is the recommended behavior but if you want to block all web pages from automatically downloading multiple files, turn it off.

Now you no longer receive notifications when the site loads multiple files consecutively.

How to turn on downloading files automatically but block on specific websites

You should not disable the file download feature continuously on all websites because this can block legitimate files. However, if you want to enable the feature and block a specific website, you can blacklist it.

Go to Settings> Site Settings> Automatic Downloads or type chrome: // settings / content / automaticDownloads on the search bar and press Enter . Turn on the option again.

Now click on Add next to Block .

Enter the URL of the website you want to blacklist, then click Add .

When providing a web address, if you want to block the whole site, use the prefix [*.] To block all subdomains of the site.

Repeat the above process for sites that download many other files. When these sites load multiple files, Chrome automatically blocks it without notifying you.
