Known as a video editing technique that combines multiple stills together to form a series of moves, Stop Motion is becoming a new trend in the graphics enthusiasts community.

Stop Motion uses continuous motion pictures to combine them into frames in cinema, making short films with special effects and giving viewers a new feel.

Meanwhile, Light Motion was created by a combination of Stop Motion and light effects (Light Art). Images in Light Motion are usually captured at night with an exposure time of about 10-30 seconds, close aperture and ISO 100 to capture light from lights or glowing objects according to the author's idea.

The development of Stop Motion

World cinema from the early days used Stop Motion techniques, like a Roman hero fighting the skeletons next to Apollo temple in Jason and The Argonauts (1963). To make that precious movie, the filmmaker took 4 months.

Today, science and technology is growing and Stop Motion has become popular in the world. It is a powerful tool to help create special effects for movies. For example, the first 3D animation Chicken Runs (Flying Chicken Squad) uses Stop Motion to become a memorable film for many audiences around the world.

In 2009, Coraline adopted more advanced techniques that enabled the main character Coraline to express 200,000 different states and emotions. Shaun The Sheep is broadcasting on Disney Channel and also applies this technique to create vivid and beautiful images.

In Vietnam, Stop Motion is still quite a new concept and only used as a true art style in the last 3-4 years. Currently, Vietnam does not have any basic training and only a few students of FPT Arena and Keen Crew, including members working on dynamic graphics, are really specialized in Stop Motion.

Tuan Minh, head of Keen Crew, said: " It takes at least 1-2 months to make a 3-4 minute short film with Stop Motion technology. And the most time consuming is Light Motion because it has to be taken to the board. night with hundreds, even tens of thousands of photos, Stop Motion requires perseverance but I hope in the future Vietnam will have more young people interested in this field .
