Google Chrome will have a new look for 2023
If you've used Google Chrome for a long time, you can easily see that the fundamental design of this browser has not changed much in the past decade, with the biggest interface update also released.
from 2018. To give users a fresher experience, Google is planning to 'overhaul' the interface for Chrome, which is expected to be officially announced and implemented by the end of 2023.
Over the past few months, Google has been actively working on a project called 'Chrome Refresh 2023', also known as 'CR23' in some Chromium code. The focus here was on creating a new user interface inspired by the Material You design language, which the company has used quite successfully to varying degrees on Android and ChromeOS, to rave reviews. of the user. Some of the areas where users interact the most will likely be markedly changed. For example, the button on the main toolbar will be larger in size, while the top corners will be rounded, and there will also be more pop-ups and interactive buttons with a rounded design, for more modern feel.
Material You on Android lets you change the primary colors, but Chrome doesn't seem to have any color customization options, at least for now. The tab bar is light blue by default on Macs, and in dark mode it uses the same blacks and grays as Chrome's current dark mode. A recent commit to the Chromium codebase shows that Google is continuing to experiment with background and text colors, so it's possible that some level of customization will be available in the final design.
The search bar will be home to the most noticeable changes, with the padlock, warning, or Chrome icon on the left side now appearing as a fill button inside the search bar. Clicking the button will still display the same information about the current page, such as SSL security or what permissions are enabled.
Currently, users can access a number of new features and changes through the corresponding experimental flags, including #chrome-refresh-2023, #omnibox-cr23-expanded-state-height, and #omnibox-cr23 -expanded-state-shape. However, we'll have to wait and see what Google's concrete rollout decision looks like in the coming weeks and months - there's currently no public date for the final rollout, except for a tentative timeline. some lake sometime in the second half of this year.
