Windows 11's new security features 'consume' performance

Security is always Microsoft's top concern for the Windows 11 operating system.

The Windows 11 operating system is equipped with many advanced security features, including Virtualization-Based Security (VBS). However, VBS can negatively affect PC gaming performance.

According to safety certification company UL, VBS can cause gaming performance to drop by 28%. This will cause the computer's ability to handle games to be significantly reduced. According to many people, this problem appears on newly installed Windows 11 systems , and does not affect users upgrading from Windows 10.

In theory, VBS won't 'touch' anything about gaming because it focuses on a completely different aspect of the operating system. However, because it isolates a portion of RAM from the rest of Windows 11 to safely store some security solutions, gaming performance degrades quickly.

Experts say that VBS is not enabled on all computers running Windows 11. UL claims that only computers with new installations of Windows 11 actually have VBS enabled. Users upgrading from Windows 10 will not notice this VBS feature working.

This shows that the presence of the VBS security feature is not really necessary for Windows 11 operating system users. Instead, it also makes the game experience significantly reduced.

Currently, there is no way to disable VBS on the Windows 11 operating system. Microsoft said it created VBS to target this feature for business systems, not for gamers.
