Viber is a fierce competitor with Skype, the application-software that provides users with the ability to communicate via voice, text and video.

In February, Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce company, announced they had bought Viber with $ 900 million. At that time, Viber said they had 300 million users; in which they have added 100 million new users within the past seven months.

In addition to adding video calls, Viber now includes QR code scanning to quickly add contacts. On the iOS side, Viber also includes improvements to forwarding picture messages. And on Android, Viber has a new interface design.
