This is 'AirDrop version for Android', can work on both PCs
Basically, this feature works similar to Apple's AirDrop, except that it can work on devices of the Android ecosystem.
For those who already own or have owned an iPhone, Airdrop is probably nothing new. AirDrop is basically a method that supports the transfer of content (photos, music, videos) between devices within the Apple ecosystem quickly, simply and extremely conveniently. A tool like AirDrop is something Android users have long wanted, and to meet that legitimate need, Google has developed something called 'Nearby Sharing'.
Basically, this feature works similar to Apple's AirDrop, except that it can work on devices of the Android ecosystem. The method of operation is not much different, Nearby Sharing uses Bluetooth to connect the two Android devices together before sending data via Wi-Fi. You can learn how this new feature works through the experimental video below:
Overall, data is transferred between two Android devices quite easily and quickly with transfer speeds of up to 20MB / s, although sometimes not as 'smooth' as AirDrop. In the near future, besides continuing to improve Nearby Sharing to make this feature more stable, Google will add support for both popular computer operating system platforms including Mac. , Linux and ChromeOS in the near future.
Nearby Sharing featureThe addition of compatibility with the PC environment will make Google's sharing service a much more complete solution. Android users will be able to easily transfer data between their phone and PC in a closed, fast and reliable solution.
It is still not clear when Google will officially update Nearby Sharing for Android devices. This feature is still in development and not really mature. However, active users can expect to experience it right on Android 11 coming out officially later this year.
