In a statement sent on Aug. 15, Microsoft confirmed that customers who update to Windows 8.1 will have the company's free Skype , video chat and messaging software available.

The Windows 8.1 update is expected to be available to consumers around mid-October . Currently, this version is being finalized by Microsoft and will be sent to manufacturers by the end of August.

In the announcement sent on August 15 Microsoft wrote: 'We believe that connecting and sharing is a great experience on Windows. More than 300 million people currently use Skype as a popular means of communication, sharing everything that happens in their lives. With Windows 8.1, Skype will be available in the Start interface to keep your Windows devices connected. '

The announcement also confirmed that the Skype version developed by Microsoft on Windows 8.1 will replace the Messaging application on Windows 8.

The Windows 8.1 version leaked earlier this week on the Internet has also shown that Skype has replaced Messaging and appears on the Start interface.

Microsoft 's announcement also confirmed that they received a lot of useful feedback from the Skype software version for Windows 8.
