Microsoft released a patch to fix the issue of Edge crashing when using YouTube

This phenomenon is caused by the sudden freezing of the browser, while the processes gradually consume most of the system resources.

Earlier this month, there were a series of reports from the Microsoft Edge user community on Reddit about the browser crashing, becoming unresponsive, or worse, shutting itself out when YouTube videos were in full-screen mode.

According to the analysis results, this phenomenon originates from the sudden freezing of the browser, while the processes gradually consume most of the system resources (possibly up to gigabytes of RAM), eventually leading to the error. stops responding and hangs completely. This problem has only been reported on Edge 90 version, which was released not long ago, so it is highly likely that the problem is related to a software conflict error on the system.

Microsoft then conducted its own investigation and publicly acknowledged the issue on Reddit. The Redmond Company immediately worked on the fix, and after more than a week, a patch was released on Edge Canary. Microsoft recommends users to try Edge Canary to test the fix they just released before the official launch.

Test results from some Reddit users show that the system freeze when using YouTube no longer appears when using Edge Canary. However, there were also a few other cases that reported that the problem continued to occur, albeit with less frequency.

In a post on Reddit, Microsoft said that this fix does not completely fix the problem in all cases. However, everything is still on track, and the patch will continue to be worked on before it is ready for the official launch in the near future.

If you're experiencing this problem, you can try a few temporary fixes, such as:
