How to set password for windows 10 computer

Even though your computer does not hide treasure maps or confidential documents, setting a computer password is still an extremely necessary security measure to prevent others from stealing data, tampering with it, or reading private chats.

During the development process, from Windows XP to Windows 10, Microsoft always encourages users to set a password to protect their personal computers. This is a simple and effective security measure for computer users. On Windows 10 computers, the system interface has changed, so we may have difficulty setting a password for the computer. How to set computer password on Windows 10

Step 1 : Click on the Start icon in the bottom left corner of the screen

Step 2 : Select the User icon, then click on the Change account settings option.

Step 3 :

In the Accounts interface, click on Sign-in options . Then you look to the right and you will see 3 options to create a password for Windows 10, including creating a regular password ( Password ), creating a password with a pin code that only uses numbers ( PIN ), and creating a login password using a picture ( Picture password ).

If you want to create a regular Windows 10 security password, click Password and select Change

Step 4 : Enter your current password in the Current password box.

Step 5: To set a new password for your computer , enter the password in the New password box , and confirm the password you use to log in to your computer in the Confirm password box . If you often forget your password, you can type hint words in the Password hint box.

Then click Next below. Finally click Finish to complete setting the password.

Set computer password with PIN code

If you don't want to set a long, hard-to-remember password, Windows 10 also supports you to set a password in the form of a 4-character pin code. To set a password using a PIN code, do the following:

Step 1: In Sign-in options settings , select Windows Hello PIN

Step 2: Select Add

Step 3: Windows 10 will ask you to enter your current password. After entering the password, press Enter to continue.

Step 4: Enter the 4 digits used as the PIN code in the New PIN line and confirm the password in the Confirm PIN line below.

Step 5: Click OK to finish
