How to Record Voice on Phone

The ability to record audio at any time on a smartphone is quite handy but often overlooked. iPhones come pre-installed with a voice recording app, as do many other Android phones. At the same time, there are many free recording applications with diverse functions. You can use those apps to record your thoughts, lectures, meetings, concerts, etc.

Open the Voice Memos app. This application allows you to record audio on your iPhone. You can look in the "Extras" or "Utilities" folder.

Press the red Record button to start recording. The iPhone immediately begins recording sound from the device's microphone.

Point the bottom of your iPhone toward the sound source. To get the best sound quality, point the bottom of iPhone toward the sound source. This is the location of the microphone. Don't let your hand cover the microphone on your iPhone. Remember to keep distance between your phone and the sound source to get better quality.

Press the Stop button when you want to pause recording. You can continue recording by pressing the Record button. You can drag the timeline to adjust when recording starts again.

Tap "New Recording" to rename the recording. A text dialog box and keyboard will appear, allowing you to enter the name of the recording.

Listen to the recording again by pressing "Play" . This allows you to listen to the recording before saving it. You can move the timeline to set when playback starts.

Click the "Edit" button to trim the recording. The Edit button has an icon of a blue box with lines from 2 corners, located in the right corner of the recording name.

Click and drag the selection bar to highlight the recording you want to delete. Press the "Delete" button to delete the selected segment, or use the Trim button to delete the rest.

Click the "Done" button after you are satisfied with the recording. If you haven't named your recording yet, you'll be asked to do so.

Play the recording. The recording will be listed in the Voice Memos app. Press once to play the recording. You can use the Share button to send the recording to your friends, or use the Edit button to trim the recording, or the Trashcan button to delete.

Use another app to record audio. On the iPhone App Store, there are many recording applications that provide diverse functions and better suit your needs. Open the App Store and search for the keyword "voice recorder", you will see a list of recording applications. Remember to read reviews to choose the app that suits your needs.

Some recording applications allow you to add effects, save output files in other formats, adjust levels, perform advanced editing, etc.

Find the recording app on your device. Different Android devices, each carrier loads different apps when you sign up for a service with them. So on Android there is no standard recording application like on iOS. Your device may already have the app installed, or you may have to download it yourself.

Download the recording app from the Google Play Store. If you don't find a recording app pre-installed on your device, you can quickly install one of the apps on the Google Play Store. Many recording applications are completely free.

Open Google Play Store and search for "voice recorder."

View the list of results and find the app that suits your needs. There are many recording apps, free and paid. You can look at the reviews to check the popularity of the app. Tap the app to see detailed user reviews and screenshots.

Click the "Install" button after finding the application you like. If it's a paid app, you must click on the price and pay before you can click the "Install" button.

Start the recording application. After finding and downloading the application, look in the App Drawer to open the application. You can open the App Drawer by tapping the grid icon on the Home screen. Each app's recording interface is different, so the rest of this method is just a general guide.

Press the Record button to start a new recording. When you start the recording application you just installed, you will be taken to the New Recording screen or similar screen. The application can open a list of previous recordings.
