8 ways to help you write a good book

The secret to helping you become the author of bestsellers.

If you are a writing enthusiast, surely, you always want to have at least one published book someday. And of course, the opportunity for you to make this dream come true is very much. However, is implementation easy?

To write a good book, you will have to spend a lot of effort for it. As long as you make a mistake in choosing topics, audience and being influenced by external factors, the longer you will be able to write. In addition, many people are often worried at publishing but this thinking is very wrong. Writing is the most interesting part.

For many years, I used to fall into that difficult situation. As someone who likes to write with great ambition, I always dreamed of someday sharing my thoughts with many people around the world. But the truth is I'm playing with myself.

Why? Because I didn't write anything at all. I don't even know where to start.

7 years passed very quickly and now, I have become the author of 4 best-selling books and live a life I always yearn for. Even though I don't have everything to follow my goal, all that time helps me accumulate some very valuable secrets.

Becoming a writer will require you more, not just a dream. You will have to know what you are doing or at least, what you will have to do next.

Here are the 8 steps I took when writing my first book. This is also what I did when I did not know what to do next and also the secret to helping me from a passionate writer with a very boring job to become a full-time writer and author of bestsellers. Really easy but also extremely difficult.

1. Select the topic

You must have something important to share before you start writing. Like F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "You don't write because you want to say something. You write because you have something to say." What would you write?

When I fell into this situation, I tried to dig deeper into Fitzgerald's sentence and began to write about writing. As a result, it was the first perfect step for me because I still do so until now.

You need a topic that you care about to make sure you have enough "text" for a blog, brochure or book. Occasionally, there may be 3 themes or more.

You are absolutely not "imprisoned" by the first idea, otherwise, can develop more things from the key idea without fear of distracting the reader. However, consider the extent of the topic being discussed.

2. Develop a premise

You need an anchor, a "corner" of your own. However, there is no need for new ideas. You can use the old one but express it in your own way.

Let's see how Seth Godin wrote about marketing or Ernest Hemingway wrote about bullfighting, you know.

Everything has been completed by many people in history but you are not among them. That is the difference and your premise.

3. Think about readers

That golden rule in writing is that you have to understand your readers. You have to know a lot about them and their needs so they will know how much you understand them. If you can do that, if you meet them where they are, you can raise them to where you want them to go.

And they will forever be loyal to you.

4. Create an outline

Outlines are seen as the most boring part of writing. Perhaps you think this will limit your creativity or pull you right where you just started. However, the fact that taking the time to outline it will make the remaining stages much faster and softer.

I learned this through experience. When I wrote the fifth book last summer, I realized that two-thirds of the journey - after writing 40,000 words - everything suddenly became easier than writing the previous chapters. Why? Because I accidentally created an outline: 5 things, in order, that I want to make sure to be presented in that chapter. And with that outline, writing like a "fill in the blank" exercise is simple (sure, simple but not easy).

5. Read, read and read

If you want to become a writer, reading is not a luxury. It is a must. You have to read many topics and often to see how those books are written and what you can do to make them different.

There is no shortcut for reading.

6. Set a deadline

When my wife became pregnant earlier this year, we knew the day the daughter was born. That deadline has made a difference in all of our family and work activities. We know we have to finish everything before that time because whether or not it is finished, a new member will appear. There is no chance to delay or delay because of laziness.

Similarly, set a deadline for your work.

Once you've decided on what to write and write for, it's time to learn to be a professional and commit to accomplishing it on that day. Otherwise, your goals will be interrupted and overshadowed.

If choosing the right time is not enough to motivate you, think of a consequence for not reaching that goal.

7. Planning to write

It would be useless to try to follow what others have done.

You can find inspiration from the way others have organized their lives but don't forget this: Build a daily plan that is right for you and commit to following it from now until completion. into a book.

There will always be days that you don't want to write and be sure, that is the most important time you need to maintain your performance. After all, the plan is just like that.

A dream job is just a job anyway. So you always need a plan.

8. Focus on writing, do not edit

You've probably heard this but I still want to repeat it, because it's almost something that will make you unable to complete the book.

If you are obsessed with each sentence you write, you are not simply a perfectionist. You really make your motivation go down and it is impossible to enter a more important state of the "process" - where words come out and you have achieved your goal.

If you try to write all the good sentences and have a perfect book, you have pursued the wrong goal. Instead, find a strategy that first, will help you write and after completing new edits.

What helps you become a writer is writing. So, it's better to start.
