Night Eye is a utility to surf the web on Chrome or Firefox with a dark background interface to avoid harming the user's eyes.

How to switch web interface to dark background

Step 1:

Read the link below to install Night Eye utility on Chrome or Firefox.

  1. Download Night Eye to Chrome
  2. Download Night Eye for Firefox

Step 2:

After installation, click on the Night Eye icon at the end of the address bar. Click OK to use the utility.

There will be 3 interface modes for users to choose to use the browser is Dark, Filtered, Normal.

Step 3:

Dark interface mode will cover the black background on every website that users access on Chrome. On some sites images will also be switched to dark backgrounds as images often take up more resources on the computer to display. If you do not want to darken the image, click Image then click Off and select Apply.

Then there are 2 different options including:

  1. Apply to all websites: Turn off the feature to darken images on all websites.
  2. Apply to current website: Only turn off the feature on this site.

Also in this mode, users can customize colors (Colors), brightness (Brightness), contrast (Contrast), Staturation, Blue light, and dimness (Dim ) for this interface.

Customize the horizontal bar and click Apply. If you want to return to the default Chrome mode, click Reset.

Step 4:

The Filtered interface will bring the web interface to the default light background, but users can still adjust the brightness, contrast, and blurring, etc. Normal mode will bring the web interface back to the normal interface.

Step 5:

On the utility there is a Power button to pause or use the utility without disabling the utility.

To re-use the dark background interface, just press Turn on .

Step 6:

In case the user wants to quickly activate the dark background interface on the Chrome browser through the Night Eye utility, it is possible to set the quick launch shortcut for the dark background mode.

Click the 3-dot mark and then on the browser select Other tools , select Next Extensions .

Step 7:

Switch to the setting interface and click on the 3 dashes icon and select Shortcuts .

Go to the Night Eye utility and enter the shortcut to quickly activate the dark background for the Chrome interface.
