Microsoft is testing the familiar Alt + Tab experience of Windows 7 on Windows 11

Microsoft just released an interesting new build for the Windows 11 Dev channel (Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22526), which comes with a new Alt + Tab experience that many people will probably enjoy.

Actually, it's not really new because this experience has already appeared and is popular on Windows 7. Microsoft simply tweaked it and brought it to Windows 11.

Specifically in a blog post announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22526, Microsoft said: "We are testing the feature to display the Alt + Tab interface in a windowed form, instead of full screen for some Insider users".

Currently on Windows 11, pressing Alt + Tab will open the open application management interface in full screen form. But in older versions of Windows, the experience will be in the form of a window that is somewhat smoother and more intuitive. Microsoft is intending to bring this experience back to Windows 10 users, and is testing it on the Dev channel. Of course, there will also be a few more tweaks to the overall layout and interface to make everything more consistent with Windows 11.

It's also important to note that since this feature is currently only being tested being added on the Dev channel, it may never make it to the end-user build on Windows 11. Normally, Microsoft pushes features, new changes for beta testing users prior to mass release, but in some situations these changes may be revoked if Microsoft feels it is no longer reasonable, or does not get a good response from users.
