Microsoft Build 2017 2nd day: Although not a developer, you need to know these contents
Microsoft Build 2017 developer conference has started on Monday. Unlike the first day, today there are many technologies that possess the features that users can use, from actual mixed control devices to making movies.
- This is what you missed on the first day of Microsoft Build 2017
Update Fall Creators Update
As mentioned earlier, Microsoft recently announced that it will offer two annual updates. The next update that was announced today will be Fall Creators Update, with the following highlights.
- The new clipboard feature allows copying and pasting links, images, files between devices, much like Pushbullet.
- The Pick Up Where You Left Off feature, like Apple's Continuity, allows users to work on one device and then continue to work on another device.
- The new timeline allows users to return to previous timelines.
Fluent Design System (or Project Neon)
Today, Microsoft revealed the project is still rumored to be Project Neon, with the official name of Microsoft Fluent Design System, or Fluent for short. Fluent offers many options for UI design on Windows applications, including: light, depth, motion, size .
Windows Story Remix
Do you still remember Movie Maker software ? The Windows Story Remix is basically the same. It offers the ability to create images, with effects, sound and features that allow many people to contribute, edit the movie, even the most inexperienced people can use it. Below is a sample video clip made in just 30 seconds.
OneDrive can synchronize itself
OneDrive is already installed on Windows devices, but with Files On-Demand feature announced today, you can use this cloud storage more efficiently.
The system allows users to view all Windows 10 File Explorer files before downloading them , as if they were already saved on the device. For business users, there is another benefit: when updating shared files, OneDrive will synchronize on the device itself. Now, whenever a colleague has a new version of the file you saved, you'll see them on File Explorer without looking in OneDrive.
Windows Timeline
Timeline is a feature that allows search history to work in the form of images. If you work on your home and half-way spreadsheets to view PDF files from your company's computer, you can now search the timeline with images to find the text you opened earlier.
This feature is similar to Time Machine on Mac computers. Not only backup data but also real work. It allows users to work, play, read books on one device and continue on another device, from laptops, phones to tablets and maybe even HoloLens someday.
Cloud Clipboard allows copying and pasting between devices
If you're not afraid to compare, you'll see Microsoft's new Cloud Clipboard feature similar to Apple's Continuity , which allows users to copy from one device to another. In the demo, Microsoft copied an address from the computer, then paste it into Google Maps on Samsung Galaxy S8. Even better, this feature works on both SwiftKey, Microsoft's mobile keyboard.
iTunes is about to appear on the Windows Store
Windows users can now access iTunes but now it will be available directly on the Windows Store. Not sure whether users are interested or not, but the idea of working on multiple devices and bringing Apple Music and other iPhone support is worth considering. However, Windows 10 S will not support.
Fix mobile application errors by scanning QR codes
For any developer, debugging is always a very tedious task.Xamarin 's new Live Player aims to change that by making debugging as simple as scanning a QR code. Instead of scanning thousands of lines of code, running simulations, installing SDKs, developers now just need to install apps on iOS or Android, scan QR codes and debug applications with just one touch. The code will be deployed and tested immediately in Live Player.
Microsoft's first mixed reality control
Today, Microsoft announced its first virtual reality motion controller for HoloLens and other headset devices. This control is like a marriage between an Oculus and a Vive controller, requiring no tracking device to follow your movement.
Expected this controller will launch later in the year with the sale of Acer Mixed Reality headset for $ 399.
