Microsoft Edge Chromium has added support for ARM64

Edge Chromium is one of the most interesting new browser platforms available today.

Edge Chromium, one of the most popular new browser platforms today, officially released a stable version on January 16 and immediately received positive feedback from users. . Due to the same development based on the Chromium kernel, the similarity and ability to synchronize between Edge Chromium and Chrome is huge.

However, at the time of launch, the stable build of Microsoft Edge Chromium was not equipped with support for Windows 10 devices running on the ARM architecture. This is clearly a flaw. The lack of ARM64 support in Edge may cause customers who are using ARM devices to hesitate to switch to using Edge Chromium.

As expected, just a few days later, Microsoft had to launch support for ARM64 devices on the beta channel with Edge 80. After a short time of testing and receiving feedback from users, finally The new Microsoft Edge is also able to support ARM on the stable version starting today, February 8.

This addition will have a huge impact on ARM-based devices such as Surface Pro X, in particular in performance and user interface. Initial testing showed that tab switching, displaying web content, and scrolling speed all improved on the Surface Pro X (and similarly with other ARM devices). However, these are only the first versions of the Edge Chromium browser for ARM chips, so the possibility of errors is always hidden.

The new Edge browser is based on the Chromium kernel, so it will own all the basic features available on Google Chrome, and also supports installing extensions on the Chrome Store. Edge Chromium is currently highly rated, even many suggest that this browser will become a challenger to the throne of Google Chrome in the future.
