Why reset and delete all apps on the Taskbar?

This can be useful if the Unpin this program from taskbar option doesn't work for pinned apps, or you just want to quickly remove all pinned apps from task bar.

By default, apps pinned on the taskbar are saved in 2 locations.

  1. In the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerTaskband
  1. In the hidden TaskBar folder:
%AppData%MicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick LaunchUser PinnedTaskBar

The downloadable .bat file in this guide will delete the content in these locations, to reset and delete all pinned applications on the taskbar.

How to reset and delete all pinned apps on the Taskbar in Windows 10

To reset and delete all pinned apps on the Taskbar in Windows 10, do the following:

1. Download this Reset_Clear_Pinned_Apps_on_Taskbar.bat file, then run it on your computer.

DEL /F /S /Q /A "%AppData%MicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick LaunchUser PinnedTaskBar*" REG DELETE HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerTaskband /F taskkill /f /im explorer.exe start explorer.exe

2. If prompted, click Run.

Note : If you like, you can stop receiving the Run promptby unblocking the downloaded .bat file.

3. You should now see your screen blink when Explorer is restarted.

4. All apps pinned on the taskbar will now be reset and deleted.
