How to Install Fortnite on a Samsung Galaxy Phone or Tablet

Install Fortnite on a compatible Samsung Galaxy device through Google Play or Epic’s official Android store, then check requirements and fix common installation blocks.

Table of Contents

You can install Fortnite on a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet through Google Play or through the official Epic Games Store for Android. The old 2018 method that used a Fortnite banner in Galaxy Apps is no longer the dependable route.

Start with Google Play because it uses Android’s normal store protections. If Fortnite is not available there for your account, device, or region, use Epic’s official website—never a third-party APK download page.

Check whether your Samsung device is compatible

Epic’s current minimum requirements for Fortnite on Android are:

  • a 64-bit version of Android on an ARM64 processor;
  • Android 10.0 or later;
  • at least 4GB of RAM; and
  • a supported GPU, such as Adreno 530 or later, Mali-G71 MP20, or Mali-G72 MP12 or later.

Meeting the minimum does not guarantee the same frame rate or visual quality as a newer device. Keep Android updated, close unnecessary apps, and make sure there is ample free storage for the initial installation and later game updates. The download size changes over time, so an old fixed size such as 1.8GB is no longer useful.

Method 1: Install Fortnite from Google Play

  1. Open Google Play Store on the Galaxy device.
  2. Search for Fortnite.
  3. Confirm that the publisher information identifies Epic Games and that you are viewing the genuine listing.
  4. Tap Install, wait for the download, and open the game.
  5. Sign in to an Epic Games account or follow the prompts to create one.
  6. Allow the game to download any additional required files before joining a match.

If the Install button does not appear, check the device-compatibility message and the account’s country or parental-control settings. Epic states that unsupported devices may not show an installation option.

Method 2: Install through the Epic Games Store

Use this route only from Epic’s site. Epic’s official Android installation instructions provide the current download path.

  1. On the Samsung device, open a browser and go to Epic Games’ official website.
  2. Select Install, then choose the Android option.
  3. Download the Epic Games Store installer.
  4. If Android blocks the installation, open the settings page shown in the prompt and temporarily allow installs from that specific browser.
  5. Return to the downloaded file and install the Epic Games Store.
  6. Open the store, select Fortnite, and follow the prompts to install it.
  7. After installation, remove the browser’s permission to install unknown apps if it is no longer needed.

Do not grant install permission to an unfamiliar file manager, messaging app, or website. An authentic-looking icon does not prove that an APK came from Epic.

Why Fortnite may not install

The device is not supported

Compare the phone’s Android version, RAM, processor architecture, and GPU with Epic’s current Android requirements. Older models from the original Samsung launch list may no longer meet the current operating-system requirement even if they could run a 2018 build.

Samsung security settings block the installer

Galaxy security features may stop an app installed outside a store. Follow the device’s on-screen explanation and Epic’s instructions for the current version of One UI. Change only the setting required for the official installer, and restore it afterward.

There is not enough storage

Delete or move unneeded files, restart the device, and try again. Leave additional free space beyond the displayed download because Android may need room to unpack files and Fortnite may download updates after launch.

The Epic installer is old

Remove an obsolete Fortnite Installer or Epic Games Store package and obtain a fresh copy from Epic. Do not reuse an installer saved years ago.

Keep Fortnite updated

Update the game through the same official store used for installation. If an in-game message requests an update, verify that it opens Google Play or the official Epic Games Store before approving the download.
