How to compress photos on Squoosh online

Squoosh is Google's image compression service, without losing image quality.

High quality images always create a favorite with viewers, compared to blurry images, broken images. However, if sending high quality images will be quite time consuming. So image compression tools are widely chosen to reduce image size, but still retain image quality.

Squoosh is Google's free photo collage service. The service does not require an account, it does not degrade image quality. Special service adds upgraded photo editing tools to correct colors on photos, tailored to the needs of each user.

Instructions for using Squoosh to compress images online

Step 1:

Users access the link below to open Squoosh's homepage.

In the page view, click Select an image to upload the image to the homepage, or select the sample images below to experience first.

The service supports many image formats such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, . but will only compress 1 file in 1 time, with image size of 1-3MB.

Step 2:

After selecting the image, you will see the interface is divided into two similar halves for comparison, with the same image editing tools. Here the user selects the part of the image to be edited. For example, choose the right image to reduce the size.

The original image on the left will not use any tools.

Step 3:

The original image will be sized 345kb. First click on the Original image section to convert the image format. The service supports converting to OptiPNG, MozJPG, WebP, Browser PNG, Browser JPG, WebP Browser.

When the new format is selected, the service will perform to reduce the image size to the best, without damaging the image. We will see new capacity with% compression ratio.

Note that some new formats will increase the original size so you need to choose carefully.

Step 4:

By default the service will compress at 75%. But if the user wants to reduce or increase the image size, adjust the Quality bar .

Drag right or left to the level you want to apply. New image quality will also show later.

Step 5:

Each output image has its own advanced refining tool. First click Resize to reduce the image size. Enter new dimensions into 2 Width and Height entries.

The Reduce palette section will be used to reduce the color in the image

Step 6:

Scroll down below to tick the box Show advanced settings to add another tool. This part will depend on each editor.

Step 7:

Finally after you have finished editing you use the blue vertical bar to compare the quality between the original image and the compressed image. The difference between the two images can be clearly seen. Click - and + to increase display size%.

Click the blue download icon to download new photos to your computer.

Squoosh is basically the same as other image compression services, but the other thing is that the service also provides many photo editing tools. You can reduce the size, adjust the color, . The original image and the edited image will be displayed on the same frame for easy comparison.
