To log in to Windows and other Microsoft services you will have to log in to the primary email address for your Microsoft account. However, if you want to use a different address to login, even if that address is not a Microsoft address, you can absolutely do it.
If you are using a Microsoft account to log in to Windows, you will not be 'suspended' when you log in. Actually, it was originally created an Outlook.com address, but many users prefer to use email addresses instead of using Outlook.
You can completely convert a Local account on your computer, then convert it back into a Microsoft account using a new email address. However, the process will take a long time and you will have to do this on every computer you sign in with.
Fortunately, Microsoft has allowed you to create Alias (in fact it's just additional email addresses) and you can use these Alias to log in on the same account. You can then change any Alias as your primary email address.
Change the primary email address for your Microsoft account
To change the primary email address for your Microsoft account, first visit the Microsoft account page and log in with the email address you use to log in.
On the account page, click on the link Your info in the top corner.
On the next page, click the ' Manage how you sign in to Microsoft ' link.
Now a new page is displayed on the screen. On this page you will see the email address you have set up. If you have created Alias that you want to use as your primary account, you can skip the next steps. If not, click the link Add mail to create a new Alias.
On the Add an alias page will give you 2 options. You can create a new email address on the Outlook.com service or you can add an existing email address on another page as a new Alias. Select the option you want, fill it in and click the Add alias button.
Now your new account will appear on the Alias list. If you add an existing email address you will receive a message that the verification email has been sent to that address. Find and verify the email address for your Microsoft account before taking the next steps.
You can log in to Microsoft services, including Windows by using your Alias. In addition, you can also refresh Alias for your main account if you wish.
Also this is a great way to 'consolidate' everything according to your favorite email address. If you want to delete an address as your primary Alias, you need to add another address as the primary Alias before deleting the other address.
If you want to use the new address as the primary Alias, click the 'Make primary' link under your new email address. Please note that you will have to verify the new email address before using the email address as the primary Alias.
On the confirmation page, click Yes to confirm using the email address as the primary Alias.
If you do not want to receive Microsoft notifications sent to your email address, make sure that you have selected the Send me promotional offers from Microsoft option. You can unsubscribe at any time .
