Change the standby time of CHKDSK hard drive error checking tool in Windows

The Windows Disk Check (CHKDSK) command is an important Comannd Prompt tool that allows you to scan your Windows hard drive to find and fix errors. This tool usually does not run when Windows is running, so whenever you schedule a scan for CHKDSK, Windows must run it on the next boot.

Then enter the command below, replacing the number of seconds you want to count down to run:

chkntfs / t: 000

This will change the time CHKDSK waits to run when it is scheduled for the next boot.

You can enter any value from 0 to 259,200 seconds (ie about 3 days). If you enter 0, CHKDSK will scan immediately without a countdown. You can confirm the current timer by entering the command below:

chkntfs / t

Note: You should not set the value too high, otherwise, when you start your computer, you will have to wait a long time to scan the hard drive.
