Kittl's browser-based design tool is arguably the most intuitive design platform on the market. It has similarities to Canva, including its departure in providing browser-based design solutions. Kittl's growing source of design tools and features is great competition for Canva.

While Canva is extremely popular around the world for design and social media, Kittl is gaining speed in AI visual design with a focus on the print-on-demand (POD) market. The two platforms have many similar features and can be used for the same design style. So how are they different?

Pricing options

Like many design platforms, Kittl offers a tiered subscription model. This starts with the free forever plan, which offers 15 AI credits, space for 20 projects, and 500MB of upload storage. It is limited to low-resolution file downloads and requires attribution of any Kittl content when publishing your design.

Kittl Pro costs $10/month, billed annually. This includes 100 AI credits/month, along with more project and storage allowances. Commercial licenses are available without attribution requirements.

Kittl Expert starts at $24/month, billed annually, and custom business plans are also available. Kittl offers discounts and referral programs for students and teachers, as well as introductory discounts for Pro users.

Canva offers a free version with many features, including a 50-credit limit for AI tools and apps, and - like Kittl - it offers limited export options. Canva Pro provides users with premium templates, content, editing tools and applications as well as better export formats, including transparent PNG and SVG files. There are many reasons to upgrade to Canva Pro.

Canva Pro costs $119.99 for an annual subscription with a 30-day free trial; Canva for Teams costs $149.90/year for the first five people; Canva for Education subscriptions are free for teachers and students.

AI features

Both Kittl and Canva have many AI tools. The free Kittl plan limits users to a total of 15 AI credits - you'll have to sign up for an expansion pack to get more AI credits. Canva's free plan includes 50 AI credits, although some AI-based apps require external registration.

You can use your AI credits on Kittl's AI logo generator - create editable graphics from text prompts - or text-to-image generator to create a variety of art and visual styles ; however, these results cannot be edited. Kittl has several other AI-based tools, such as a quote generator, background remover, and product background generator. It also offers an AI-generated image library for freely usable content.

Are Kittl templates good for designers?

Kittl's template and content library is growing every day. Many templates are created by Kittl creators and all of them are available with a commercial license for you to use. In general, templates are fully editable and Kittl content differs in how it is edited.

After creating a design in Kittl, you also have the option of publishing your design to the Kittl community. This turns your design into a template for other Kittl designers to use and edit.

Because Kittl focuses more on POD design and less on social design, templates and content have fewer movable parts than Canva. Canva's templates mainly focus on social media setups with replaceable components. Canva also offers video content, audio, and animated templates, which are less common in Kittl.

Overall, Kittl has many similarities to Canva but may not have the same features as Canva. However, for designers looking to create apparel, Kittl is the better choice.
