The features will be removed on the Windows 10 April update 2018 Update

There are features that Microsoft has removed or stopped developing from this Windows version.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update launched this week with a lot of new features but while the Timeline or Fluent Design is the focus, there are also features that Microsoft has removed or stopped developing from this Windows version.

This is also not surprising because with Fall Creators Update or before, the features that are often less used are removed or replaced. Below is a detailed list.

Features / features removed on Windows 10

  1. Groove Music Pass
  2. People - Suggestion will not have contacts other than Microsoft accounts
  3. Control language in Control Panel
  4. HomeGroup
  5. Connect to the recommended open hotspot option in the WiFi settings section
  6. Chat in the People app when offline or use a mail account other than Office 365
  7. XPS Viewer

Features / features are not further developed on Windows 10

  1. Software Restriction Policies in Group Policy
  2. Offline icon pack (MSI debug icon)
  3. Windows Help Viewer (WinHlp32.exe)
  4. Contacts in File Explorer
  5. Phone Companion
  6. IPv4 / 6 Transition Technologies (6to4, ISATAP and Direct Tunnels)

Microsoft also offers many alternatives to some of these features. For example, although there is no Phone Companion, you can use Phone Page (available in Fall Creators Update) in Settings. Similarly, users of HomeGroup can still share printers or files in File Explorer.
