Instructions for using Google Docs offline

Users can completely use Google Docs offline to edit their documents when there is no Internet connection.

Users can absolutely use Google Docs offline to edit their documents when there is no Internet connection. You can still continue to be creative and productive even when you are on a plane, or in a remote place with no Internet connection. You can sync any Google Docs file to your device and edit it offline. Here is a guide to using Google Docs offline.

How to use Google Docs offline

Step 1:

First, you access Google Drive then click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the interface.

Step 2:

Go to the setup interface, users scroll down below the Offline section and then select Create, open and edit Google Docs, Sheets, Slides files .

Now we are asked to install the utility to use offline mode for Google office services.

Step 3:

We proceed to install the extension on the browser as usual. Then you access Docs, Sheets or Slides. Open any Google document, spreadsheet or presentation and look up at the title, click on the cloud icon and you will see the status of the document in offline mode for editing when there is no network.

Step 4:

For documents you created previously and want to edit in offline mode, click on the 3-dot icon and select Can be used offline .

This way the document will be editable even without an internet connection.

The above steps to enable offline mode and use offline mode apply to Google Slides and Google Sheets.
