When introducing Windows 8.1, Microsoft showed that they also added many new features to SkyDrive, compared to Windows 8.

By default, Windows will not download all data from SkyDrive to device memory, but only download small pieces of data, saving you more time and saving storage space on mobile devices. After you start opening the file, the new file is downloaded to the device.
