Do you remember or have you ever used Paint 3D? Back in the days when Microsoft wasn't obsessed with AI, but was instead focused on investing in 3D experiences, Mixed Reality, the company unveiled HoloLens technology and wanted its software to also offer compatible 3D features. That's why Microsoft decided to launch an improved version of the Paint app for Windows 10 called Paint 3D in October 2016.

But despite all the efforts, Paint 3D still couldn't become as iconic as its classic predecessor. That's why Microsoft abandoned the idea and focused on upgrading the old Paint to be more comprehensive with some pretty useful features.

Paint 3D is no longer available in the Microsoft Store, but that doesn't mean you'll lose your chance to try it out. In fact, you can still install Paint 3D if you want to try it again. Even though Paint 3D was developed and released in the early days of Windows 10, it still works perfectly, even on the latest Windows 11 updates, such as version 24H2.
