Control remote computers with Dropbox and AutoHotkey

TipsMake.com - Recently, we have discovered a way to run applications and perform actions on other computers with Dropbox and AutoHotkey with a bit of complexity for you. Below is the updated version, only requires a shortcut with a little knowledge of AutoHotkey.

The old method requires editing a script, saving it, and then returning and deleting the script later (before running again). Now, with just a few small settings, you can do any action that can be re-edited in AutoHotkey with just a shortcut. You'll have to use Dropbox and AutoHotkey, install them on both computers to be able to do this.

To install, go to the remote computer (the computer you want the operation to be done), install the remoteAction script and put it in Dropbox's folder. You may also want to create a shortcut for them (by clicking on it and selecting Create Shortcut). Then, drag the shortcut to the startup folder so it can boot with your computer.

Next, go to the control computer (at this computer you will perform actions, actions) and load the makeDummy script . Right click on it and select Edit Script . Make sure the path to the Dropbox folder at the end of the script is correct. Then, save this script and then transfer it to the startup folder. Next, you can restart your computer or double-click it to start it.

Now you just need to press Shift + Windows + A whenever. A dialog box will appear. You can type in this dialog box any action and click OK . The remote computer will perform this action. The author of this script gave some useful examples in his blog the actions you can take:

You can take any action on your remote computer when you can record it in AutoHotkey.
