Control remote computers with Chrome web browser
To access and control remote computers, you will think of TeamViewer, VNC software ... but with Chrome Remote Desktop, all you need is a running Chrome browser to be able to control and share your screen. The following article will guide you through the basic steps to do this.
Previously we introduced to you many methods to control a remote computer using Teamviewer, solve the case of a computer crashed with Intel AMT KMS, control computers running Ubuntu and even Your Android device. In most of these cases you need to install certain software or have a special service running in the background. As for Chrome Remote Desktop, all you need is a running Chrome browser that can control and share your screen. The following article will guide you through the basic steps to do this.
1. Install Chrome Remote Desktop:
- Download Google Chrome browser for Windows.
- Download Chrome Remote Desktop extension.
When installing the Chrome Remote Desktop add-on on the browser, the system will ask as shown below, click Add to continue:
When the installation is successful, you open Chrome App Launcher (go to Start Menu type Chrome App Launcher is out):
2. Use Chrome Remote Desktop to control and access remote computers:
When starting, we will have to sign in with a Google account:

The main interface of Chrome Remote Desktop after user login will look like this:
To share a computer, select Remote Assistance , and the My Computers section below is where you can allow or disallow access from another computer.
- How to turn on Remote Desktop Connect on Windows
When you click Remote Assistance, we will see there are 2 options as follows:
- Share: Similar to on TeamViewer , there will be a sequence of 12-digit characters for other computers to access through this sequence of characters.
For example, you will need to remember these 12 characters and use them on another computer to access this computer.
- Access : You use this computer to access and control other computers.
On another computer (temporarily called computer B), to access your computer, go to Access , enter the code:
And the control window will look like this:
When you're done, simply press the Stop Sharing button at the bottom of the screen to turn off the remote control feature.
If you have trouble connecting or crashes when verifying the access code, try enabling ports 443 and 5222 to have an inbound and outbound rule in your firewall using both UDP and TCP .
