Top 10 changes and new features on iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2

After a few weeks of testing, Apple has officially released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 to all users. This is a relatively important update, bringing a number of new features and improvements.

In this update, Apple has fixed most of the errors that users have encountered on iOS 14 versions since its launch. Here are the Top 10 changes that iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 bring to all compatible iPhones:

1. Shazam integration

Apple officially acquired Shazam at the end of 2018, and with iOS 14.2, it has integrated the application into its operating system. Users can now add the Shazam widget to the Control Center, making it convenient and quick to find songs.

This feature can not only identify songs playing around you, but also find song titles in apps or play on  AirPods  or other Bluetooth devices.

2. People Detection

The People Detection feature built into the Magnifier app is a tool that uses the device's camera to assist anyone with vision problems.

Essentially, when this option is enabled, the Magnifier app uses augmented reality technology to show the distance between you and others.

3. Recommended music in Control Center

When your device is not playing music, the Music utility in Control Center will recommend songs for playback in a new, intuitive, modern interface.

4. Fine-tuned Clock app icon

In this update, Apple has also tweaked the Clock app icon. The strap image on the new logo is sleeker and resembles the Solo Loop strap shown at the Time Flies event.

5. New emojis

iOS 14.2 brings users more than 100 new icons, including many themes: faces, people, animals, food, clothes, musical instruments, .

6. Intercom (Support intercom)

Apple announced the Intercom feature for Siri for the first time during the introduction of the HomePod mini. With the iOS 14.2 update, the company will bring this feature to the iPhone, allowing users to turn Apple devices like HomePod,  Apple Watch  or AirPods into an internal communication system.

7. Optimized battery charging for AirPods

iOS 14.2 also brings optimized charging for AirPods and  AirPods Pro . This feature is designed to reduce aging as well as prolong the battery life of the AirPods.

That means iOS 14.2 will track your daily AirPods charging habits, provide predictions about charging times, and wait until you're almost unplugged to fully charge your battery capacity.

8. Headphone Safety

Apple has renamed the Reduce Loud Sounds feature to Headphone Safety. With this feature, the device will notify the headphone sound level to alert you when hearing levels are reached.

9. HomePod as the audio output for Apple TV 4K

Apple is finally letting Apple TV 4K owners use the HomePod as the default audio output. Users will have options like stereo, surround sound, and Dolby Atmos sound in this setup.

10. New wallpaper

iOS 14.2 also comes with new wallpapers available with two light or dark interface options.

To update to iOS 14.2, you need to go to  Settings -> General -> Software Update .

Note that before updating to the latest iOS or iPadOS version, users should connect the iPhone or iPad to the computer, then open iTunes and backup all the data on the device to minimize the problems. Unexpected attempts can happen.
