The 'Windows 11 style' Microsoft Edge interface is available, activate and experience immediately

The issue of optimizing the user interface between the operating system and essential applications is one of the key tasks that Microsoft has set forth since the release of Windows 11.

A series of applications have been redesigned to have a more consistent, seamless interface with Windows 11, and Edge is no exception.

Earlier this week, Microsoft released Edge 102 in the stable channel. There are no notable changes other than some new platform policies, which are of little value to the average user. However, there is a significant change that is being hidden as an experimental flag, which is the option that allows users to activate a new interface, designed in the style of Windows 11.

In fact, Microsoft added a new user interface activation option in Edge Canary a month ago. The new interface will add Mica effects to the title bar and toolbar background when using the default theme. In addition, users can enable the new rounded tabs effect using a separate toggle on the toolbar.

After a short period of testing, the Redmond company decided to add a new look option to the Stable channel so that more people can participate in the test and provide feedback. However, as mentioned, this option is currently hidden behind a flag, so users won't see it by default, but must enable it manually following these steps:

  1. Update Edge to version 102 or later.
  2. Paste the following URL in the address bar and press enter: edge://flags/#edge-visual-rejuv-show-settings .
  3. Set the flag with the corresponding title to Enabled , then restart the browser.
  4. Go to Settings > Appearance and enable the option " Show Windows 11 visual effects. ". You can also enable rounded corners for tabs.
  5. Restart the browser and experience the new interface.

Note that the new visual effects are still a work in progress, and Microsoft warns that users may notice some performance issues while experiencing the new interface. Also, this redesigned user interface only works with the default black and white theme.
