Microsoft rolls out update KB5007253 that fixes network printing errors 0x000006e4, 0x0000007c, or 0x00000709

Microsoft has just rolled out optional cumulative update KB5007253 Preview for Windows 10 2004, Windows 10 20H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 21H2.

Microsoft states that this update will fix network printing errors that cause 0x000006e4, 0x0000007c, or 0x00000709 error messages.

In fact, KB5007253 is released to test before the patch measures are expected to be released in the next December Patch Tuesday update. You can install KB5007253 by going to Settings > Windows Update and clicking Check for Updates. Then, if you see KB5007253 , then click and Download and install.

In total, KB5007253 improves or fixes 13 issues of which 11 are notable:

  1. Fixed an issue that caused some fonts to display incorrectly.
  2. Fixed a bug that caused the 32-bit version of Microsoft Excel to stop working on certain devices when users exported to PDF files.
  3. Fixed an issue where letters or characters were displayed at the wrong angle when using Meiryo UI fonts and other vertical fonts.
  4. Fixed an issue that caused Internet Explorer to stop working when using the Input Method Editor (IME) to insert elements.
  5. Fixed an issue that caused Settings to close unexpectedly when you uninstall fonts.
  6. Fixed an issue affecting the ability to rename files when viewing folders in File Explorer when using the new Japanese IME.
  7. Fixed an issue that disabled screen capture and recording on Windows Game Bar after a service failure.
  8. Fixed an issue that prevented apps you use frequently from appearing on the Start menu as usual.
  9. Fixed an issue that caused Internet Explorer to stop working.
  10. Addresses a known issue that causes error code 0x000006e4, 0x0000007c, or 0x00000709 when connecting to a shared remote printer on a Windows print server.
  11. Addresses a known issue that prevents applications, such as Kaspersky applications, from opening when you try to repair or update applications using Microsoft Installer (MSI).

If you do not install KB5007253, any changes and fixes of this update will be automatically installed along with the security updates in Patch Tuesday of December 2021.
