Microsoft integrates Teams utilities into Office.com website and Office Windows apps

Microsoft Teams is one of the most popular communication tools for business environments at the moment.

Besides the ability to support instant messaging and video calls, this tool also comes with a range of other utilities to help improve work productivity.

Microsoft's current goal is to combine Teams with other famous office suites to form an application ecosystem for more optimal work for businesses. The first step to realizing this plan is to integrate Teams into the Office platform, thereby providing faster and more convenient access for users.

Microsoft recently added a new feature related to the Office.com website and Office for Windows apps, on the public roadmap for Microsoft 365. Tagged with ID 88942, the feature is described as possible for Microsoft 365. allows users to use the utilities of the Teams tool directly within the Office for Windows applications and the Office.com website. In other words, users will be able to use the Teams app without leaving Office.com and the Office apps as usual, saving time and making it easier to work with. The description from Microsoft is as follows:

'Utilities built for Teams can run in Office.com and Office for Windows apps. Users will be able to download and use these updated Teams apps/utilities (with individual tabs) without leaving Office.com and the Office for Windows apps'.

Some of the most popular extensions/apps you can find in the Teams apps catalog are GitHub, Microsoft PowerBI, Trello, YouTube, etc. It will be interesting to see if all of them will be integrated and working. How in the Office tool add-in.

The above change is still being researched and finalized by Microsoft and according to the expected schedule, a test preview will be released next month. The official application time for general users has not been disclosed, but it will most likely be in the last months of 2022.
