With Windows 10 support ending on October 14, 2025, Microsoft is continuing to push its campaign to convince users to upgrade to Windows 11, especially through the Surface Copilot+ PC line - advertised as the optimal solution for security, AI performance and hybrid working needs.
Windows 10 "expired": Upgrade to avoid risks
In a recent blog post, Microsoft warns:
Starting October 14, 2025, Windows 10 PCs will no longer receive feature or security updates, increasing security risks and operational challenges. Now is the time to plan your transition to modern devices built for today's security standards, AI capabilities, and hybrid work needs.
According to Microsoft:
- Surface Copilot+ PC speeds up workflows by an average of 50% compared to legacy Windows 10 PCs, whether it's content design, data analysis, or document processing.
- System deployment speed improved by 25% thanks to automated updates and precise AI application/data/settings control, helping IT teams operate smoothly.
Citing results from a commissioned study, Microsoft said:
- Organizations using Windows 11 Pro devices (like Surface) saw a 62% reduction in security incidents thanks to Secure Boot (3 fewer firmware attacks).
- "Surface Copilot+ PC is designed for modern security standards, giving businesses peace of mind to focus on innovation," Microsoft representative emphasized.
This isn't the first time Microsoft has encouraged, or even urged, users to switch to Windows 11. The company has previously offered feature comparisons, explained the benefits of TPM chips, or provided instructions on how to handle unsupported Windows 10 computers. Hardware partners like AMD and Dell have also joined in the campaign.
In parallel, Microsoft hopes that the Surface Copilot+ PC line will become the optimal choice for businesses thanks to its deep integration of AI capabilities, optimized security and performance. However, this move still faces skepticism from individual users - those who do not want to invest in new hardware just to run the operating system.
