Microsoft explains why you need Copilot on Windows 11 and 10 even if you don't want to
Earlier this month, there were rumors that Microsoft was looking to bring Copilot, its incredibly useful Windows AI companion, to the Windows 10 platform, although it's apparently only planned as a Windows 11 only feature.
Turns out, these rumors were actually true. Last week, Microsoft announced that it would introduce Copilot on Windows 10, with Release Preview channel Insiders getting to experience it first. Early on November 21, the company released Copilot for Windows 10 through the latest Windows 10 Release Preview builds 19045.3757 under KB5032278.
In a new post on the Tech Community blog, Microsoft explains how Copilot can help improve user experience, as well as why you need this smart assistant regardless of whether you are using a Windows 11 or Windows PC. 10, especially for those working in the field of information technology. As follows:
Why you should try Copilot in Windows
People who work with information every day will benefit from AI's ability to aggregate data, which can help them discover and create new content quickly. Users can use synthetic AI by accessing Microsoft Copilot (formerly Bing Chat) or ChatGPT in the browser.
Copilot in Windows powers general AI experiences on highly regulated Windows 10 and 11 PCs. As an IT professional, you want to help your organization stay at the forefront of AI, while upholding standards of protecting corporate data that employees can share with AI models. We're here to help you do both. With Copilot in Windows, you can provide a managed version of Copilot to Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices so employees don't accidentally share confidential or proprietary information.
By using Copilot, employees can:
- Save time and effort by providing information and service reminders in one unified place, by entering reminders in natural language or using their voice.
- Explore new possibilities and ideas by creating creative and innovative content that includes both text as well as images.
The benefits that Microsoft cites are not unreasonable when Copilot is considered one of the most comprehensive AI platforms today. This virtual assistant operates in the form of a chatbot (automatic chat software), allowing you to answer user questions, summarize content or draft emails.
Users can also communicate and issue commands to Copilot by text, voice or using images to request Copilot to identify and process. Users can also command Copilot to quickly turn on/off a certain feature on Windows, such as activating software, turning on/off WiFi connection, activating battery saving mode when using a laptop, etc.
Copilot is considered a virtual assistant on the computer, allowing activation and use right from the Windows screen without having to install any other software or tools.
