Apple will hold its annual developer conference starting June 7, and that's where the company is expected to announce the next versions of its mobile operating system: iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

Apple will hold its annual developer conference starting June 7, and that's where the company is expected to announce the next versions of its mobile operating system: iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

iPadOS 15: Release date

Chances are we will see the new iPad operating system announced by Apple at WWDC 2021, the conference will be held from June 7 to June 11. It is likely that iPadOS 15 will be announced on the first day. Soon, the next one will be the beta developer. In the following months, the full beta may be released.

Users will then be able to get information about the new OS powered iPad in September or October at Apple's annual big event, where we may also see the iPhone 13 and the Apple Watch 7.

iPadOS 15: Supported devices

Information about iPad devices that support the new operating system hasn't been released yet, but we still expect it to be compatible with the long list of older iPads like previous operating systems.

Perhaps models like the iPad Air 2, iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) and iPad Mini 4 will not be on this list. Here is a list of the predicted models that will be supported by iPadOS 15:

iPadOS 15: New features

So far there is not any official information about what new features or improvements will appear in iPadOS 15. So we can only follow some rumors from many sides to creates a list of features to look forward to on the new iPad operating system only.

iPadOS 15 should have support for home screen widgets, which was added to iOS 14 last year. Just like on the iPhone, you'll be able to place widgets anywhere on the home screen, and you'll be able to replace the entire app grid with just widgets if you like that.

Both iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 must have new privacy protections, including a new menu that shows which apps are silently collecting user data.
