In response to Google, Microsoft also promoted the new Edge in OneDrive

When accessing OneDrive with other browsers, a large banner will appear to entice users to use the new Edge.

Microsoft officially launched the new Edge browser using the Chromium kernel in January 2020. To increase users, Microsoft plans to bring the new Edge to more than 1 billion Windows 10 devices through the Windows Update feature.

Not only that, from the beginning of this week, Microsoft started displaying a large banner ad in the OneDrive app whenever users access it in other browsers. OneDrive is Microsoft's online data store, offering 5GB for free for OneDrive users only and 100GB for Office 365 accounts for free.

In the banner placed at the top of the OneDrive interface, Microsoft boasts of the new Edge offering higher performance, better compatibility, and speed than other browsers. Microsoft also provides links for users to download and try out the new Edge.

Users can also easily turn this ad off by clicking the X button in the upper right corner.

Microsoft and Google often take advantage of services and software to advertise their browsers. The search giant displays ads for Chrome right on Gmail's login screen, in Google Forms, Google Drive, and on YouTube Music when users sign in to these services using another browser.

Suggestions for installing, using the new Edge are also shown in the Start menu on Windows 10

In addition to the new ads on OneDrive, Microsoft has also proposed its browser in Windows 10 features. For example, when users search for other browsers with Windows Search, the new Edge ads will appear as suggestions. In the Start menu, similar suggestions can appear in the list of all applications.

Microsoft believes that these advertisements are only recommendations and suggestions for users and there is no way to disable them. It's unclear when Microsoft will stop advertising for the new Edge.
