How to fix errors that cannot open Start Menu, hang Taskbar and Settings on Windows 11
Microsoft has just rolled out a new Windows 11 update for both the Dev channel and the Beta channel. This time, the two updates have been separated into 22449 for the Dev channel and 22000.176 for the Beta channel.
However, both versions cause annoying errors for some users.
Specifically, after updating the user has an error that crashes the Taskbar, unable to open the Start Menu as well as the Settings application of Windows 11.
Here's how to fix the error:
Intervene with Registry Editor to fix the problem of hanging Taskbar on Windows 11
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open Task Manager
- Click the More details button below Task Manager to expand Task Manager
- Click File and select Run new task
- Type cmd in the Open field
- Copy and paste the following command into the Command Prompt window:
reg delete HKCUSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionIrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0
- Press Enter and wait for the computer to restart and everything will work normally
According to some brothers, the cause of the problem is not syncing the date of the update. Somehow Microsoft rolled out the update earlier than expected. Therefore, some users may be able to fix the error by simply changing the date to September 4 or September 5 and turning off the auto-sync feature.
Not long ago, Microsoft warned that the next betas of Windows 11 on the Dev channel will be less stable. However, in the first update since that announcement, both the Dev channel and the Beta channel encountered an error.
