How to Diagnose Landline Phone Problems

Unplug the cable plugged into the test jack. This jack is often labeled "Test Jack" or sometimes unmarked. Most NID devices have only one jack in the customer access area. For outdoor NID devices, you will usually find them in the upper left corner after opening the box. With home phone network boxes, the test jack is usually located along the bottom edge.
