Google is deploying free wifi in Vietnam, the initial experience is stable, watching YouTube HD

Google Station is a project that brings the Internet to everyone via free wifi hotspots at public points of Google. Currently this project has been implemented in a number of countries such as India, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines and Nigeria.

Vietnam is not currently on the official support list of Google but it seems that this technology company is starting to test this service in our country. Currently free wifi of Google has appeared at a number of universities in Vietnam such as the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Technology (Ho Chi Minh City), University of Technical Education (Ho Chi Minh City), University of Electricity ( Hanoi), Polytechnic University (Da Nang), . with a free wifi column called "FreeGoogleStation - Swifi".

Each user can access Google's free wifi network in an hour, Google's system has a counter during use and automatically disconnects when the time runs out. The user must then reconnect to continue using. "FreeGoogleStation - Swifi" comes with ads.

At universities that use Google's free wifi, most users comment on the stable Internet speed.

The Google representative admitted that he is testing the free Wi-Fi service called Google Station in Vietnam but has not announced it and did not disclose details.

Here are some practical experiences of using Google's free wifi at Electricity University (Hanoi):

Google's Wi-Fi network appears as "FreeGoogleStation - Swifi".

A login page will appear when users access this network. Users will click Connect, and before accessing the network you will have to watch a short ad (about 10 seconds).

When connected successfully, Google Station website will appear with countdown time and also display hot news, videos and free apps.

Using Speedtest check tool shows that the download / upload speed of this free wifi network is in the range of 5-10Mbps, meeting the demand of web surfing and accessing social network of users. Even, users can watch 720p HD quality videos on YouTube without the 'stall' situation.
