File manager application Files is about to have a new version to support Windows 11

Files is a popular file management application by many users. After Windows 11 was released, Files also quickly accelerated the development process to soon launch a compatible version with Microsoft's new operating system.

In a recent post on Twitter, Files announced version 2.0 with many improvements and support for Windows 11 will be released on October 4.

Files is a third-party open source application for Windows. This application helps users manage files more efficiently than the default Windows feature.

Files leverages the latest Windows platform features like Fluent Design, sync updates, and APIs to provide a better user experience. Files' tabbed design gives users full functionality while ensuring simplicity and ease of use.

Notable features of Files include:

  1. Enable search inside hidden folders
  2. Added search option for things that are not indexed
  3. Allows different layout modes for individual folders
  4. Ability to handle files on OneDrive
  5. FTP access
  6. Ability to pin folders to Start Menu
  7. Option to delete files/folders under administrator
  8. Support 7zip file compression application
  9. Quick Look Support
  10. Along with many other features

The author of Files is developer Yair Aichenbaum. The Files app is currently available for free via the Microsoft Store, and its source code is uploaded to GitHub.
