Network Administration - Microsoft has equipped many new features in Internet Explorer 8, including some very easy access features, but there are some that you need to explore deeply in the newly searched menu. 1. Select the text with the keyboard

In previous versions of IE, it was often difficult or impossible to select exactly the text you want to copy into an email or a document. When dragging a mouse to select a piece of text, you often have to select other paragraphs or adjacent columns that you don't want. IE 8 overcomes this problem by mimicking Firefox's "caret browsing" feature, which allows you to select text by moving the arrow keys. Just press F7, or Page | Caret Browsing, and use the arrow keys or other navigation to find the place in the text you want to start copying; Hold Shift and use the arrows or navigation keys to expand the selection. Press Ctrl-C to copy the selected text to the clipboard. Everything will be fine if web browsers use F8 (Microsoft Office extension key) instead of F7 for this feature, but you can't get everything.

2. Compatibility View compatibility feature

The time ago not long ago when Internet Explorer followed closely web standards, many web developers designed their sites to display correctly in Internet Explorer but in IE8, these sites are often There are some overlapping components or similar layout errors. There is a way to make these sites appear as intended by software experts using Page | Compatibility View. You can make IE8 always display a site in Compatibility View by adding its address to Page | Compatibility View Settings.

Microsoft maintains a list of sites that need Compatibility View, IE8 will automatically switch to Compatibility View mode for sites on the list. You can tell whether you will visit one of those sites: Compatibility View will display gray on the Page menu. If you don't want IE8 to turn on Compatibility View mode automatically, go to Page | Compatibility View Settings and clear the check box next to Include updated website lists from Microsoft. The list will be updated monthly and you can find the current list (in Excel format) by searching by the phrase "Windows Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List". The download page will be just above the list of results.

3. Hide your tracks with InPrivate Browsing feature

IE8 uses the InPrivate label for both different features, both accessible from the Safety menu. There is "InPrivate Browsing" and "InPrivate Filtering". InPrivate Browsing allows you to surf the web without leaving any traces on your computer with cookies, history or cached. This feature is very useful in many cases. For example, you want to hide your traces when you make a birthday gift online for someone in your family who wants to keep it secret. When browsing in private mode, a green "InPrivate" icon will appear in the address bar.

4. Adjust privacy with InPrivate Filtering

Another feature is InPrivate Filtering. This is a feature that prevents websites from displaying ads that have been displayed on other sites you have visited, which may follow your browsing to continue to assault you. You can use Safety | InPrivate Filtering to enable this feature for the current page, but it is better if you use Safety | InPrivate Filtering Settings and select Automatically Block. The same settings dialog allows you to set a threshold for the number of sites in the save page; The default is 10, so any item that appears at the 10th or larger position will be locked. You can change that setting to 3, the lowest value to increase privacy as much as possible.

5. Add accelerators

When you select anything on a web page, IE8's accelerator feature displays a double arrow icon next to the selection. If you click on this icon, IE will appear a list of "accelerators" - a small piece of code to perform actions on the selected text, such as translating it in Google Translate, displaying a copy. map of a place, or any other function. (You can also access your accelerators by right-clicking somewhere on the page and selecting them from the context menu). IE8 comes with a number of Microsoft central accelerators by default, but you can install additional versions of third groups in an alternate or additional form.

First, enable InPrivate Filtering by using Safety | InPrivate Filtering Settings and select Automatically Block. Click OK.

Next, add a Registry setting to enable InPrivate Filtering by default with the goal of not having to turn it on every time you start IE8. In Notepad, create a text file with the following content:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSafetyPrivacIE]
"StartMode" = dword: 00000001

Save this file to the desktop as "FilterOn.reg"; then right-click it and select Merge .
Next, search for files called Adblock for IE8.zip or EasyListIE8.zip or search for the string "ie8 adblock xml list". You will find links to download XML files converted from recent filter lists created for Firefox's AdBlock Plus. Download one of those XML files to your desktop - you can use multiple downloads without problems - and look at the files in Notepad to make sure they are standard text files rather than Dangerous executable programs (scan them with advance antivirus software to ensure safety). In IE8, go to Tools | Manage Add-Ons, and click InPrivate Filtering. Click the Import button, navigate to the downloaded XML file and click Open. IE8 will take a few seconds to process the list. Click Close. Now you can visit any site that has many ads and will see its effectiveness.

7. Features Suggested Sites

IE8's Suggested Sites feature provides you with links that relate to your concerns, which are taken based on the browsing note. When you enable this feature, use Tools | Suggested Sites, IE8 will send a list of addresses you visit to Microsoft and Microsoft will send back a list of suggestions. You can view the suggestions by clicking the Favorites toolbar and selecting See Suggested Sites.

8. Custom toolbar

Every Windows user knows the 'right-click everywhere' routine. When you right-click in the toolbar in IE8, you will see options that can make the browser interface and work the way you want, not the only way Microsoft provides it. For example, right-click on the Favorites toolbar, select Customize Title Widths, and switch from the default Long Titles setting to Short Titles, then the browser will display only the first few characters for the name of each link in Favorites.

The top Menu item and the new Command (right on the main window) will duplicate these functions. Right-click on the menu area, uncheck one of the items you see to see if you can use it without it. If you turn off Menu Bar, you can still access its commands by pressing shortcuts to open items on the top menu: Alt-F for File, Alt-E for Edit, Alt-V for View — or Alt leave the menu Bar.

9. Explore the status bar

You should explore the menu feature of IE to find more features needed. Besides, click on other locations on the status bar below the window for quick access to some hard-to-find controls. You have to explore for yourself because there are many square areas in the status bar that are not labeled. However, you will find that a click in the area will bring up a menu that allows you to enable or disable the pop-up blocker, and clicking on another area will allow you to check whether the website is suspicious or not, see Does Microsoft mark it as a safe website? Other areas in the status bar allow you to access the Quick Zoom feature, or check and change the status of InPrivate Filtering.
