Today, the free messaging and calling service on Viber smartphones introduced a new feature called Viber Out. This feature allows users to make calls from Viber to any fixed or mobile phone number not registered to use Viber.
This feature is quite similar to Skype Out, which provides calls to any number via the internet and charges lower than the carrier's calling rates. The current price set by Viber is lower than Skype's service. About a month ago, Viber soon introduced this service to help Haiyan storm victims (Philippines) can connect with their loved ones.
To use Viber Out, users only need to open the "More" section and select Viber Out. A table showing up allows you to pay for the call. Viber Out is currently available on iOS, Android and desktop versions. Versions for Windows Phone users will be available in the near future.
Besides sales of sticker sales, Viber now has more revenue from this offline calling service. CEO of Viber, Mr. Marco shared: "Profitability is definitely what we aim to be on the development roadmap, we are planning to invest more in business".
