Sony has unveiled two new phones Xperia XZ1 and Xperis XZ1 Compact. Introduced at the IFA Berlin event, these two phones are second only to the company's "XZ Premium" product.

Both phones are capable of scanning 3D objects and faces with the processing power of the handheld transceiver function (handset) without Internet intervention. The application is available as 3D Creator using Sony's algorithm to scan 3D objects. The company said users will get high-resolution 3D scans in just 1 minute.

The application has 4 scanning modes: head, face, food and freedom. Each mode will take the user through a guide screen so those who are new will not have to worry. Once scanned, Sony thinks there will be a market for those who want to share their products (each 3D file will be about 2MB) with friends via messaging applications, uploading to 3D community like Sketchfab or creating avatars for use in 3rd party applications, or simply acting as a 3D printer.

Although it is still not certain where the Sony Mobile application will go, there is no doubt about its simplicity. On the demo, scanning the head and face takes only a few seconds and produces the same results, which can then be edited in 3D space.

Sony says that the new handset runs Android Oreo. Both XZ1 and Compact have Sony's 19MP Motion Eye camera and Exmor RS image sensor stack to help create 3D images. This means that both phones can bring Slo-mo mode with 960 frames per second as in the Premium version.

Besides the new 3D feature, the camera not only detects movement but also detects smiles. This means that when you take a picture, it will produce 4 sheets: 1 photo you take and 3 sheets that think it is better or think you intend to take it later but miss it.

Continuous shooting mode produces 10 shots per second for up to 10 seconds - that is, up to 100 images with a maximum of 19MP (default mode is 17MB). Photos can then be converted into movies. XZ Premium will also be upgraded like that when Android updates.

With handsets, there is little difference between the regular and the Compact versions, but let's take a closer look at the other features of each.

Xperia XZ1

The XZ1 has a 5.2-inch Full HD HDR screen, using a 2,700mAh battery using Sony's Smart Stamina management system to increase duration. 13MP front camera with 1 / 3in feel and flash enough for selfie shooting. Hi-Res Audio on Xperia XZ1, including DSEE HX can increase resolution to 'near Hi-Res' level. 2-channel speaker with S-Force Front Surround delivers 50% more sound pressure than previous Xperia series products.

Download speeds can be up to 1Gbps thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip with X16 LTE. It also has USB 3.1 to share files 10 times faster than USB 2.0, with a maximum sharing speed of 5Gbps.

Besides 3D Creator, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact also have different parameters

Sony chose not to change the design and it was also strange to use its own Home button instead of putting it on a part of the screen. The XZ1 is solid with metal body, water-proof, dust-proof and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass on screen. You can choose 4 colors Moonlit Blue (moonlight blue), Venus Pink (pink), Warm Silver (silver) and Black (black).

XZ1 Compact

The phone is all bigger than its twin, including the battery, except for the 4.6-inch screen and the front camera with only 8MP. This camera can switch between 80 degrees and 120 degrees (can be used in videos) to selfie groups. The XZ1 Compact can reach a maximum download speed of 800Mbps.

It also has water resistant IP65 / 68, Hi-Res Audio, increased resolution of DSEE HX, LDAC, Digital Noise Cancalling and ClearAudio +, but the main difference in design is that instead of metal body, Sony uses fiber Plastic reinforced glass. The colors are also slightly different, including Black (black), White Silver (white silver), Horizon Blue (blue) and Twilight Pink (pink).

Both Xperia XZ1 and Compact are available worldwide from September 2017, both running Android 8.0 Oreo.
