An old Nokia 5233 phone has suddenly exploded while making a call and charging, causing an 18-year-old Indian girl named Uma Oram to die.
While making a call, Oram plugged the phone into a socket to charge the battery and a tragedy occurred. The explosion caused Uma to hurt her arms, legs, and chest and was taken to a local hospital but did not survive.
Nokia 5233 is a resistive touch screen phone, released in January 2010. It is still being sold on Amazon for about $ 46.
The company licensed to use Nokia's current brand, HMD Global claims that Nokia 5233 in particular and all old devices in general are unrelated to Nokia's current branded handsets because today , Nokia no longer produces handheld devices and does not support its old products.
Indian police have begun an investigation to find out the cause of the incident.
