Overnight charging laptop exploded a corner of the office
The surveillance camera captured the image of an overnight charging laptop suddenly exploding violently, destroying an office corner in Letchworth, Hertfordshire (England). The floor was destroyed, the walls were black and most of the furniture was badly damaged.
Steve Paffett, the owner of the laptop, said he plugged in his laptop and returned home as usual. When the phone connected to the fire alarm sensors in his office rang loudly, he turned on the surveillance camera to discover that his office was on fire. The laptop that exploded was the HP Envy series purchased from 2014.
Through his unfortunate incident, Mr. Steve wants to send a warning to users being wary of plugging in a laptop overnight or for a long time. Every device charging can turn into a bomb.
