Self-selling Facebook data for charity, high prices, but not yet to celebrate this young man was whistled
Frost used Facebook's data backup tool to download all of his personal data and then copy it into a USB and open the auction to sell it on eBay classifieds as a product.
After scandalizing Facebook data, many people also know that their personal data is also valuable. And 26-year-old Oli Frost, who lives in London (UK), has been using Facebook for 10 years quite annoyed to know that all of his interactive data has been used for free by Facebook all the time. Therefore, this guy has a rather bold and different decision: to sell personal data Facebook himself.
Frost writes: 'So why can't I find a way to make money from it?'
Frost used Facebook's data backup tool to download all of his personal data and then copy it into a USB and open the auction to sell it on eBay classifieds as a product. In the sale information, Frost said buyers have full access to their data.
The sale of this personal data will be donated back to the EFF Foundation by Frost, which specializes in technology benefits and related issues. As expected, the auction on eBay for this USB data will end on June 3.
Frost is quite optimistic that his data has nothing to do with others. He even considered that he could sell off his browsing history after the deal was successful.
Pricing page for Frost's data.
There were about 40 people to pay the price, with the highest threshold reaching nearly 400 USD, more than Facebook. On average, Facebook only earns about 20 USD / person.
Unfortunately, until the closing date of the auction, Frost's listing site was removed by eBay for violating its copyright and issued a warning that it would not be allowed to repeat it by selling something similar.
