Remove SkyDrive from the system

First, access the Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc into the Run window (Windows + R), then press Enter.

Under Local Computer Polic y, navigate to Computer Configuration Administrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsSkyDrive , double-click the Prevent the usage of SkyDrive for file storage in the right pane.

Change the setting status to Enable , press OK to save the setting.

The change will take effect immediately and you will see the SkyDrive Explorer icon disappear immediately.

Use Registry Editor

If you simply want to remove SkyDrive from the File Explorer window, you only need to do some editing of the Registry. Proceed as follows:

Enter regedit in the Run window, press Enter to execute.

You then need to find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT CLSID {8E74D236-7F35-4720-B138-1FED0B85EA75} ShellFolder.

Double click on Attribute and change its value to 0.
